5 minute cupcake

The email has been doing its rounds....but in case you did not receive it, here is the recipe!

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips
A tiny drop of vanilla extract
1 large coffee cup (otherwise it would be a mug-cake)

Mix the dry ingredients together. Add the egg and mix well. Add the milk and oil and mix again. Add the chocolate chips and vanilla extract and mix a final time. Pop it into the microwave and cook for 3 min at 1000 watts.

Enjoy ♥

My first repeat pattern.

I have been wondering for quite some time how to create one of those thingies that fit perfectly into either side of itself. Well, considering myself lucky, I was born with a somewhat technical mind. Sometimes a bit too technical which causes me to complicate matters instead of simply figuring it out. After some research and a bit of cutting and pasting, I finally mastered the art of creating a repeat pattern. I can see many joyful times to come!

Lana's technicolour playroom

I find it funny (not ha-ha funny) that I randomly picked a couple of colours for my playroom and when I studied the colours I found them quite appropriate. No wonder it is my happy space.

First thing that, errr, shoots into your head?

While studying visual communication in Gauteng, South Africa a couple of years ago, we got a project from one of our stranger lecturers. I can't remember the brief word for word, but it came down to this:

Design an advertising poster for an archery/bow-shooting competition.

After already being called "Farmgirl" (which I often got even though I never, ever stayed on a farm) I was already a bit cynical about this guy's class. And I always thought that, as creative, right-brained people, we should think out of the box, right? Right?

Wrong.

New to the world of computer software other than Paint, computer graphics and computers overall, I spent an entire week working on my idea of an amusing poster for this competition (that, according to me, would have sucked in any way). So I got to class...very excited and stuff...ready to blow his head off with my idea of a design. I proudly took out my image...

You guessed it... I had to start all over and ended up using some supplied-by-lecturer-for-forced-to-use-or-fail-image of a Native American or something.... I still think the chicken kicks ass though.

forgot you not

Shit, it has been a month! I have been working on my playroom/studio and it is coming on just fine. Someone asked me the other day what colours I have decided on. I replied: "What colours haven't I decided on?" I have taken pictures of the before, between and almost-after process and I promise to put them up soon! Will probly finish painting the last wall and a half over the weekend.

Let me know if you are working on fun projects at the moment! Oooo, and also, to make a long story short, does anyone have experience in electrical stuff? If so, what would be your best advice for a not so technical person?

oooooh, what does this button do?

Ok, so this is my first blog entry...EVER. User-friendly to other people is not necessarily user-friendly to me. Does that mean that I am not a user then? Oh wait, let's not go there. So I look at this blog and it is all green and stuff - which, unlike most people's belief, is actually my favourite colour - with random lines and little blocks that I really don't like that much. But with a little effort, lots of different buttons to try and a couple of this and that, hopefully, this will become my fun-space. So watch this not-so-fun-but-very-green-space.

Have a good weekend people.
